Washington Spirit
Olympic champion Gabrielle Carle has joined Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League. Carle joins the NWSL side on a two-year contract after spending the 2022 season with Kristianstads DFF in Sweden.
“The Washington Spirit is a club that really resonates with my values. It kind of feels like I’m coming home even though it’s a new challenge,” said Carle. “I’ve heard great things about Washington, D.C. It has a great culture and is a great sports city and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Carle from Lévis, Québec won an Olympic Gold Medal in 2021 and also represented Canada at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. Across her international career, she has made 35 international “A” appearances and won three Concacaf silver medals (2016, 2018, 2020).
A two-time NCAA winner, Carle turned pro with Kristianstads DFF in 2022. She made 22 appearances in the league plus another two appearances in UEFA Champions League Qualifying.
