Concacaf silver medal winner Emma Regan has signed her first professional contract with HB Køge in Denmark. The fullback from Burnaby, British Columbia joined the league-leading side just three days after her 23rd birthday on a two-year contract just before the transfer window closed for January.
Regan won a Concacaf silver medal as a teenager with Canada at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship, helping Canada qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. She has represented Canada at two FIFA youth tournaments and won two Concacaf youth medals.
Regan joined HB Køge for the championship side of the 2022-23 Kvindeliga season. Leading the league with 39 points from their first 14 games, HB Køge were one of six clubs that advanced to the championship bracket that will play another 10 matches through to the end of the season. HB Køge were the 2021-22 league winners and took part in 2022-23 UEFA Champions League Qualifying. The top two teams in the 2022-23 Kvindeliga qualify for 2023-24 UEFA Champions League Qualifying (the winners will enter Round 2 while the runners up will enter Round 1).
A graduate of Canada Soccer’s Super REX British Columbia / Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite program, she won a 2022 League1 BC title with Varsity FC this past summer. Before signing her first pro contract, she played her college football at the University of Texas at Austin.
