Edmonton Drillers win 2025 Alberta men’s championship

Edmonton Drillers SC won their first men’s Alberta Soccer provincial championship as they qualified Sunday for Canada Soccer’s 2025 National Championships. The Drillers won 2:1 over Edmonton Southwest United SC in the 2025 provincial final on goals scored by Jermele Campbell and Justin Falcetta.

Edmonton Drillers SC, established in 2003, previously reached the Alberta men’s provincial final in 2014 when the lost 2:0 to Calgary Callies. The club won the women’s provincial championship in 2022 and 2023.

For the 17 August provincial final, the Drillers squad featured Seth Johnstone (goal), Onesphore Amanda, Noah Bilodeau, Stefan Bozunovic, Jermele Campbell, Jared Day, Justin Falcetta, Sam Foster, Kyle Jhamandas, Jared Mockford, Kirk Moody, Meddie Musake, Mitchel Opryshko, Pavel Pekez, Cameron Schmidt, and Brendan Wald. Unavailable for the final were Nicholas Bilodeau, Tomasz Chodorski, Brian Gapiuk, Ryan Matowe, and David Newman.

This year’s 2025 National Championships for the Challenge Trophy will be played from 7-13 October in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. As Canada Soccer’s largest national event featuring clubs from coast to coast, the National Championships have served as the nation’s primary amateur soccer competition for more than 100 years, with the men’s competition inaugurated in 1913, the youth competition inaugurated in 1966, and the women’s competition inaugurated in 1982. At all age levels, the National Championships provide a meaningful week-long soccer experience for host cities and participating teams, as well as the players, coaches, support staff, officials, and volunteers.
