Canada’s Julian de Guzman made his 50th appearance for Canada’s national team. De Guzman reached the milestone as part of Canada’s starting XI for the 7 October 2011 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match against St. Lucia in Gros Islet.



De Guzman, 30, is in his 10th season with Canada’s national team. He made his debut back on 26 January 2002 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. De Guzman becomes the 22nd player to reach the milestone for Canada.



De Guzman’s experience includes participation in three FIFA World Cup Qualifier campaigns and four CONCACAF Gold Cups. Before reaching the full national team, he represented Canada at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2001.



Midfielder de Guzman currently plays professional soccer in Canada with Toronto FC. He is a two-time Voyageurs Cup champion. In 2008, de Guzman won Canadian Player of the Year honours. One year earlier, he won 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup Most Valuable Player honours.
