CANWNT LIFT PINATAR CUP IN CASEY STONEY’S FIRST CAMP

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team capped off a dominant performance at the Pinatar Cup with a 7-0 victory over Chinese Taipei, securing the tournament trophy under new head coach Casey Stoney. The win marked Canada’s first piece of silverware since their gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Canada came out firing early, with Marie-Yasmine Alidou scoring a first-half hat-trick and Jordyn Huitema adding a brace. Megan Reid and Clarissa Larisey also found the back of the net, completing the commanding 7-0 scoreline. The team’s attacking depth was on full display, and the victory was a fitting conclusion to a successful round-robin campaign.

Coach Stoney had made it clear that the tournament would serve as an opportunity to evaluate her full roster. Despite missing key players due to injury— including Kadeisha Buchanan, Quinn, and Deanne Rose—Canada’s depth shone through. The squad also saw impressive performances from Gabby Carle, Emma Regan, and rising star Olivia Smith, who all left their mark.

The Canadians had previously drawn 1-1 with No. 17 China and defeated Mexico 2-0, setting up the must-win scenario on the final day. With a 7-0 win, Canada lifted the Pinatar Cup with seven points, ahead of Mexico, China, and Chinese Taipei. The victory continued an impressive 22-match unbeaten run in regulation since October 2023, highlighting the team’s strength as they look ahead to future challenges under Stoney’s leadership.

CANW20 HAVE SUCCESSFUL TRINIDAD CAMP

Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-20 National Team (CANW20) has secured a spot in the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship with a dominant showing at the Concacaf Women’s U-20 Qualifiers in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

CANW20’s attack was on full display during the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship Qualifiers. The team opened with a historic 22-0 win over Dominica, marking the second-largest margin of victory in the tournament’s history. The momentum carried in a dominant 9-0 win over Bermuda, before defeating Trinidad & Tobago 12-0.

CANW20 made history at the qualifiers, recording 43 goals and three clean sheets throughout the competition. Kaylee Hunter and Kierra Blundell led the charge as the tournament’s joint top scorers with seven goals each, while Annabelle Chukwu added six.

The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship will include eight Concacaf Member Associations and be played in a to-be-confirmed centralized venue in May. The eight teams will be split into two groups of four each. After round-robin play, the group winners and runners-up will advance to the semifinals and qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

The trip to Trinidad & Tobago was equally valuable off the pitch, as the team visited Newtown Girls’ R.C. School in Port of Spain, making some new friends before returning home!
