CANMNT Squad announced for The Canadian Shield Tournament in Toronto

Canada begins an exciting summer with two high profile fixtures against Ukraine and Côte D’Ivoire at BMO Field in Toronto

Canada Soccer has announced the selection of 23 players who will represent Canada in the inaugural Canadian Shield Tournament in Toronto at BMO Field this summer.

The new competition will bring together Canada, Ukraine, Côte D’Ivoire and New Zealand for a four-match series over two days to determine a champion in this June’s FIFA Window. Canada is set to take on Ukraine on Saturday 7 June and Côte D’Ivoire on Tuesday 10 June at BMO Field and is being presented by MLSE, SPORTFIVE, and MIB Sport Agency.

CANMNT will continue its community outreach initiatives by starting training camp in Halifax, hosting an open training session on Wednesday 3 June at Wanderers Ground. Tickets are priced at $10 and are available here.

Canada has been drawn into Group B for this summer’s 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, where it will face Honduras, El Salvador, and Curaçao in the Group Stage of North America’s premier international tournament. Canada’s competition will begin on 17 June as they take on Honduras at Vancouver’s BC Place before traveling to Houston for matches against Curaçao on 21 June and El Salvador on 24 June. The Group B winner and runner-up will advance to the knockout stage.

CANMNT Squad

Canada’s two goalkeepers this window will be Maxime Crépeau from Portland Timbers and Dayne St. Clair from Minnesota United FC.

Defenders selected are: Sam Adekugbe from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Zorhan Bassong from Sporting Kansas City, Derek Cornelius from Olympique de Marseille, Luc de Fougerolles from Fulham FC, Jamie Knight-Lebel from Crewe Alexandra (on loan from Bristol City), Richie Laryea from Toronto FC, and Joel Waterman from CF Montréal.

Midfielders joining the group are: Ali Ahmed from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Tajon Buchanan from Villarreal CF (on loan from Inter Milan), Mathieu Choinière from Grasshopper Zurich, Stephen Eustáquio from FC Porto, Ismaël Koné from Stade Rennais (on loan from Olympique de Marseille), Jayden Nelson from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Nathan Saliba from CF Montréal, Jacob Shaffelburg from Nashville SC and Niko Sigur from Hadjuk Split.

The rest of the squad will feature forwards: Jonathan David from LOSC Lille, Promise David from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Daniel Jebbison from AFC Bournemouth, Cyle Larin from RCD Mallorca and Tani Oluwaseyi from Minnesota United FC.

Canada has also invited two training players to join the squad: Gabriele Biancheri from Manchester United Academy and Jonathan Sirois from CF Montréal.

25^th Anniversary Gold Cup Celebration

At halftime of the Saturday 7 June match against Ukraine, Canada Soccer will celebrate our 2000 Men’s National Team Heroes on the 25th anniversary of their Gold Cup win.

The Canadian Shield will take place over two days, June 7 and 10 during the summer FIFA window, with two double headers hosted at BMO Field and a tournament champion crowned.
