Canadian women meet Ambassador to Italy

Canada’s women’s national team was welcomed today at the home of the Canadian Ambassador to Italy, James Fox. National coach Carolina Morace, camp captain Diana Matheson and the entire Canadian team took time out of its training schedule to meet the Canadian Ambassador.

The Canadian team has been training in Roma, Italy since 25 August and will continue to train here until 12 September. The team then departs for Dresden, Germany in advance of the 15 September Women’s International Friendly match against two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Germany.



After Germany, Canada will be back in Toronto for a home Women’s International Friendly match on 30 September. That home match will be played at BMO Field against PR China. Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, is currently preparing for the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier. Canada has qualified for each of the past four FIFA Women’s World Cups dating back to 1995. Canada will look to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 through the continental qualification championship this 28 October to 8 November.
