Canadian women collect three points in Cyprus

Canada collected three points on the opening day of the 2011 Cyprus Women’s Cup, walking away with a victory over group rival Scotland. In its first of three group matches, Canada won 1:0 on a goal by Emily Zurrer in the second half. The opening match was played at Ammochostos Stadium in Larnaka, Cyprus.

“It was important to win, so we got the three points,” said Canadian national head coach Carolina Morace.



Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, will face Scotland, Italy and England in the group phase of the Cyprus Women’s Cup. Canada will then play a classification match (for first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth or 11th place) on 9 March.
