The Tuesday Winners event will present fans the opportunity to meet the players and even get autographs. The first 50 kids will also be given a soccer ball. The Canadian team’s appearance, meanwhile, will help highlight Winners new line of soccer clothes and equipment. It will also promote the winners.ca contest by which fans can win a Canadian cross-country trip.

The team will then train on Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening at BMO Field. Thursday, of course, is match day.

All-world player Christine Sinclair heads the Canadian lineup, but she is joined by several players with roots in Ontario. Robyn Gayle and Jonelle Filigno hail from Mississauga while Diana Matheson and Kara Lang grew up just a little further west in Oakville. Melissa Tancredi grew up down the road in Ancaster while Candace Chapman grew up on the other side of Toronto in Ajax.

Canada’s women’s national team, whose title sponsor is Winners and whose presenting sponsor is Teck Cominco, was most recently ranked 9th in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings. The team has competed in each of the last four FIFA Women’s World Cups.
