Canadian Soccer Association President appointed to FIFA Legal Committee

The Canadian Soccer Association President Victor Montagliani has been appointed to FIFA’s Legal Committee.

The Canadian Soccer Association President Victor Montagliani has been appointed to FIFA’s Legal Committee. The Legal Committee is one of the 27 standing committees responsible for advising and assisting FIFA’s Executive Committee in fulfilling its duties.

Designated by FIFA’s Executive Committee on the proposal of Members of the FIFA, the President of the FIFA or the Confederations, the members of the Legal Committee analyze basic legal issues relating to football and the evolution of the Statutes and regulations of FIFA, the Confederations and Members.

Montagliani, who was designated for a term of office of four years, joins 11 other members on this committee, which is chaired by Ángel María villar llona (Spain) and Rafael Salguero (Guatemala).

Victor Montagliani was elected President of the Canadian Soccer Association in May 2012. A member of the Association’s Executive Committee since 2005, he previously served three terms as the Association’s Vice-President and had been Chair of the National Teams Committee.
