Canada’s Chénard appointed to FIFA U-20 final

Canada’s Carol Anne Chénard has been appointed to referee the final at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Germany 2010. Chénard will be the referee in the middle this Sunday 1 August for the final between Nigeria and host Germany.

Canada’s Carol Anne Chénard has been appointed to referee the final at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Germany 2010. Chénard will be the referee in the middle this Sunday 1 August for the final between Nigeria and host Germany.



Chénard is one of three Canadian women on the FIFA List of Referees. This is her fifth year of the international list. Chénard’s international résumé also includes the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament, the CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship and the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship.



In Canada, she has served as referee for the Nutrilite Canadian Championship (professional, men), the W-League final, and the Gladys Bean Trophy final (university).



The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup features players born 1990 or later. This year’s competition ran 13 July to 1 August. The gold medal final final will be televised on CBC Television (please check local listings).
