Canada won 4:0 against Cuba in their third match at the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Qualifiers in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic on Thursday night. Canadian player of the match Florianne Jourde and forward Kayla Briggs scored twice each while goalkeeper Faith Fenwick and her backline posted the clean sheet.

“You can see the difference in the group as they start gelling together,” said Cindy Tye, Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-20 Coach. “The competition shifted this game and I found that they reacted very well in light of the physical play at the end of match. This will prepare us for our next challenge with El Salvador on Saturday as we get one step closer to the FIFA U-20 World Cup.”

Following the third match at the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Qualifiers, all 21 players on Canada’s roster have made an appearance. First-place Canada will need to win or tie their final match against El Salvador Saturday 22 April to qualify for the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship in May.

“Everyone’s made some great contributions in different ways in this competition we’re really pleased,” said Tye.
