The victory comes in good time, with now less than one month before the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier kicks off in Cancun, Mexico. Canada is in a group with Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and host Mexico. The top two teams in the group advance to the 5 November semi-final stage to face the top two teams from the opposite group. The final is 8 November.

The Women’s International Friendly match, presented by Winners, was broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet. Canada’s record in 2010 is six wins, one draw and two losses.

Canada will now take a few days rest before regrouping on 4 October in Alliston, ON. The team will train through 11 October before making the trip to Mexico in advance of the CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier. Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, is looking to qualify for a fifth-straight FIFA Women’s World Cup.
