Canada Will Play Jamaica Wednesday

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada Will Play Jamaica in the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ Semi-final on Wednesday after Jamaica defeated Panama 2:0 in the first round held at the Tropical Park Stadium in Miami, Florida USA on Sunday.



The victory for Jamaica also secured a Caribbean berth to the women’s tournament at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil.



The semi-final between Canada and Jamaica of the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson, California) will be televised in Canada live on Rogers Sportsnet beginning at 7:30 pm ET.

The semi-final between Canada and Jamaica of the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson, California) will be televised in Canada live on Rogers Sportsnet beginning at 7:30 pm ET.



In the second semi-final to be played on Wednesday, USA will now face Mexico after they defeated Trinidad & Tobago 3:0 on Sunday.



The CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ Final and a third-place play-off game will take place on November 26 at The Home Depot Center.



The Champion team and the runner-up will automatically qualify to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China. The third-place finisher in the CONCACAF event will face Japan (from the Asian Football Confederation) in a home-and-away playoff for the final berth in the FIFA tournament.
