Through the years: Canada-USA rivalry at the Concacaf Gold Cup, 2002 to 2021

#CANMNT

This Sunday, Canada will face USA for the sixth time at the Concacaf Gold Cup, albeit the first time in the Quarterfinals stage. For Canada, the match provides the double opportunity of reaching the Concacaf Semifinals for the second Gold Cup in a row as well as a chance to beat the United States away in the United States for the first time since 1957.

While Canada have yet to knock off the Americans at the Concacaf Gold Cup, with all five previous matches from 2002 to 2021 played on American soil, the contests have most often been exciting and close. Two of those matches were played in the Semifinals while three others were played in the group stage.
