Canada is taking part in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup from 5-25 June. Canada’s first match is 7 June against USA in Detroit, MI, USA, in close proximity to Windsor, ON and the Canada-USA border. The 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup serves as the qualification route for the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013. The team will be training in Southwestern Ontario in advance of the match.

“Ecuador will prove to be ideal opposition for CONCACAF Gold Cup preparation,” said head coach Stephen Hart. “Ecuador is quality opposition, very athletic, with a style of play that will be very similar to our CONCACAF opposition.”

The 1 June match will mark the first time Canada wears its new Umbro kit in Canada. The new kits made their debut in Greece in a Men’s International Friendly match on 9 February.

South American side Ecuador will be visiting both USA and Canada in the weeks leading up to the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Following the Canada-USA match on 7 June, Canada faces Guadeloupe on 11 June in Tampa, FL and Panama on 14 June in Kansas City, MO.
