Canada Soccer’s eNational Team advances to FIFAe Nations Playoffs 2023

The FIFAe Nations Playoffs are the final stepping stone on the path to the 2023 FIFAe Nations Cup.

Canada Soccer’s eNational team have qualified for the FIFAe Nations Playoffs 2023 after defeating Dominican Republic in the second-chance knockout bracket of the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers for North and Central America.

Canada Soccer eNational Team players AJ, AgitPower and Goalmachine had a dominant and high scoring performance on both days of group stage action, finishing with a record of 10-0-2 which saw them finish at the top of the table heading into the knockout rounds. Canada scored a total of 48 goals across 12 group stage matches, which is the most goals scored by any nation world wide at this stage of the competition. All matches are played 2v2 on the PlayStation 5 version of FIFA 23 using Drafted FIFA Ultimate Team Squads.

Friday night’s group stage action saw Canada defeat Panama, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Honduras and Dominican Republic, falling only to Costa Rica in the 4th match of the evening. Canada sat first in the group at the end of the night with 15 points, with Costa Rica second on 12 points.

The strong performances would continue into Saturday night, as Canada defeated Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Honduras, and Domincan Republic. Canada fell to Panama in a tight 1-0 battle as Panama were the only team able to keep the high-scoring Canadian side goalless. Despite the stumble in the first match of the night, Canada would bounce back and end the group stage on top with 30 points and a goal differential of +38. This would set up a Semi-Final match-up between Canada and Panama on Sunday.

Sunday’s action saw Panama continue to cause problems for Canada Soccer’s eNational Team, who fell to the Panamanian side over two legs with an aggregate score of 3-10. The losing teams in the semi-final drop into the 2nd chance semi-final, where they would meet with the 5th and 6th place teams from the group stage. Canada took on 6th place Dominican Republic in the 2nd chance semi-final, in a two legged series that saw Canada back to their high-scoring ways with a total aggregate score of 10-0. This victory secured qualification to the FIFAe Nations Playoffs.

FIFAe Nations Playoffs are the final stage to determine which nations will compete in the 2023 FIFAe Nations Cup – the most prestigious event of the FIFA eFootball calendar. USA and Mexico (who had pre-qualified at an earlier stage) will be joined by Canada, Panama, Costa Rica and Honduras in a six-team competition to determine which two nations will represent North & Central America at the FIFAe Nations Cup. The FIFAe Nations Playoffs will take place 19-21 May.

Canada Soccer’s eNational Team played their matches from Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment’s Bell Gaming Centre in Toronto, Ontario – the new state-of-the art facility of Raptors Uprising GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors.

Canada Soccer’s eNational Team currently sit 13th in the FIFAe Nations Global Rankings, and are the highest ranked team in North and Central America.
