Canada Soccer commends the Government of Canada for its unwavering support for athletes and sports organisations as highlighted in the Budget 2015 tabled today.

“Canada Soccer congratulates the Government of Canada on the additional investment in sports proposed in this budget,” said Victor Montagliani, President, Canada Soccer. “Thanks to this sustained support, our athletes have been able to prepare like never before for high profile international competitions by gaining access to the best resources in all aspects of the game – technical, tactical, physical and mental. Combined with the support we gratefully received from the Government of Canada for the hosting of major international events like this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015TM, we have set the stage for the sport of soccer to continue its growth and development and our organisation to take its place as a leading soccer nation.”

Canada will be hosting the 24 best women’s soccer teams in the world for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015TM starting this June. It will mark the first major sporting event hosted in Canada from coast to coast, with matches to be played in Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; Montréal, Québec and Moncton, New Brunswick.
