Regina, Saskatchewan has been selected as the host city for Canada Soccer’s 2025 Futsal Canadian Championship featuring the top men’s and women’s amateur teams in pursuit of a national title. The annual competition will be hosted in the Saskatchewan capital for the first time with the championship matches scheduled for Sunday 13 April 2025.

“Futsal will be key as we continue to grow and develop soccer across Canada, and we are thrilled to announce Regina as the host city for the 2025 Futsal Canadian Championship,” said Peter Augruso, President of Canada Soccer. “The province of Saskatchewan has a tremendous reputation and a passion for sport, and we are confident that soccer fans will support this championship in the world-class spirit Saskatchewan is known for and always delivers.”

“We are thrilled to host the Futsal Canadian Championship in the Queen City,” said City of Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski. “Regina has a large soccer community, and we welcome the spirit of competition! We couldn’t be more excited to welcome athletes and spectators from across the country to enjoy all that Regina has to offer.”

By selecting Regina as the host city, Canada Soccer aims to engage new communities and foster the growth of futsal in the region. The 2025 Futsal Canadian Championship will be held at the REAL District, a premier facility equipped with modern amenities and designed to host major sporting events. Its central location and versatile spaces make it an ideal venue for athletes and fans alike. The event will be organised by FC Regina, serving as the official host committee for the competition.

“We are honoured to host the 2025 National Futsal Championship in Regina,” said TJ Singh, Executive Director of FC Regina. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our club, the city and the entire Prairie region to showcase our passion for futsal on a national stage. Bringing this prestigious event to Regina will elevate the sport locally and help grow futsal across Saskatchewan and Western Canada. We are committed to creating an unforgettable experience for players, fans, and the futsal community, and we look forward to welcoming the country’s top teams to our city.”

Futsal is an exciting and fast-paced sport played indoors on a small court with five players to each side. It features a sport-specific ball that does not bounce the same way as a traditional football bounces on grass or turf and the sport features its own unique Futsal Laws of the Game which differ from traditional football. Each match features two 20-minute halves with the clock stopped each time the match is interrupted as well as rolling substitutions so that players can come in and out of the match.

“We are thrilled to welcome the 2025 Futsal Nationals to Regina, a testament to the growing appeal of this dynamic sport and our city’s reputation as a premier event destination”, said Sandra Jackle, President and CEO of the Regina Hotel Association. “Hosting athletes and spectators from across Canada will not only showcase Regina’s hospitality but also create a lasting impact for our sports community.”

Canada Soccer remains dedicated to elevating futsal’s profile and providing platforms for athletes to excel. The 2025 Futsal Canadian Championship in Regina represents a pivotal opportunity to advance these goals. Hosting the competition will inspiring increased participation in futsal at the grassroots level throughout Saskatchewan, too. Just this past year, the Saskatoon Green & White women’s futsal team became the first team outside of Ontario or Québec to win the Futsal Canadian Championship.

The Futsal Canadian Championship also provides an important milestone in the careers of Canada Soccer’s Futsal National Team players. From 2015 to 2024, more than two thirds of our National Team players featured with their clubs at the Futsal Canadian Championship (61 of 90 players). In 2025, the first-ever edition of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 will feature National Teams from all six confederations including two National Teams from the Concacaf region (where Canada competes).
