CANWNT to host Costa Rica in a Pride Celebration Match, presented by Volkswagen Canada
Canada Soccer is proud to announce that its Women’s National Team (CANWNT) will host Costa Rica at BMO Field in Toronto on Friday, 27 June 2025, in a special Pride Celebration match presented by Volkswagen Canada. This fixture, part of the FIFA June/July international window, marks the third consecutive year that CANWNT celebrates Pride on home soil, underscoring Canada Soccer’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Tickets for the 27 June match will go on sale to the public on Saturday, 24 May following a series of exclusive advance presale windows.
“I’m excited for the challenge Costa Rica will bring, they’re a dynamic team that will provide another challenge for us as we look to test ourselves against different styles of play. With this match also marking our Pride Celebration, it’s a powerful opportunity to show that football is for everyone. We want our games to reflect a space where every member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community feels seen, celebrated, and at home. I can’t wait to celebrate alongside our fans.”
– Casey Stoney, Women’s National Team Head Coach
Immediately following the Costa Rica fixture, the CANWNT will travel south to Audi Field in Washington, D.C., to face the U.S. Women’s National Team in the Allstate Continental Clásico on Wednesday 2 July 2025, just one day after Canada Day and marking the first encounter between the two sides under Head Coach Casey Stoney.
Volkswagen Canada continues its role as a proud presenting partner of Pride matches in Canadian sport, having supported Canadian Premier League Pride fixtures since 2022. To date, Volkswagen Canada has donated more than $150,000 in financial grants and tickets to 2SLGBTQ+ organizations across the country, reinforcing its dedication to community engagement and inclusion in the beautiful game.
