Canada Soccer today announced that the Canadian Men’s National Team (CANMNT) will continue its ‘Road to 2026’ with an international friendly against Uzbekistan at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on June 1, 2026, as part of its preparations for FIFA World Cup 26™.
The announcement was made during CANMNT’s January camp in Los Angeles, with Head Coach Jesse Marsch, Canada Soccer COO Erin Crowe, and members of the national team in attendance, alongside Mayor Andrew Knack, and Explore Edmonton, the city’s destination marketing organization.
“This match is an opportunity to connect with fans in Western Canada and showcase our team as we build toward the biggest tournament in our history. We’ve been serious about saying that this is the People’s Team, and we can’t wait to play in front of some of the best sports fans in the country.”

With the World Cup just 10 days away, this is one of the final chances for fans to come together and send Canada off with the kind of energy only Commonwealth Stadium can deliver. Attracting high-profile events like this strengthens Edmonton’s reputation as Canada’s #1 city for major sporting events and builds on our history of record-setting soccer moments.
