Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team have qualified for the CONMEBOL Copa América for the first time and they will open against the reigning FIFA World Cup champions Argentina. Canada have qualified as one of six Concacaf guest nations for the 16-nation tournament which runs from 20 June to 14 July in the United States.
Drawn into Group A, Canada will face Argentina on Thursday 20 June in Atlanta, Peru on Tuesday 25 June in Kansas, and Chile on Saturday 29 June in Orlando.
Alongside 10 CONMEBOL nations at the 2024 Copa América, the six Concacaf nations in this year’s tournament are Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, and USA. In all, 32 matches will be played including the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final.
Canada qualified for the CONMEBOL Copa América with a 2:0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday 23 March at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, just outside Dallas, Texas. Cyle Larin scored the match winner in the 61st minute before Jacob Shaffelburg scored the second goal in the 91st minute.
