Canada continues with winning ways

Canada picked up the eighth win of its 2011 season on Saturday 28 May at its national training camp in Europe. The Canucks won 2:0 over Netherlands win a pair of second-half goals by Jodi-Ann Robinson and Christina Julien. Canada improves its record to eight wins, one draw and two losses.

Canada has been training full time in Europe since early May. The team is in Europe so that it can organise several international matches in advance of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011. In May, it has posted two wins and one draw against European opponents.



The Sunday 2:0 victory over Netherlands was Canada’s second win against the Dutch this year. Canada previously defeated Netherlands on Wednesday 9 March in the Cyprus Women’s Cup championship final. Canada won that match 2:1 after extra time.



Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, will continue to train in Europe before arriving in Germany on 19 June. Canada’s next international match is this 7 June against Hungary.
