Parapan American Games 2023

Canada Soccer’s Para Soccer National Team held their first of a handful of open identification camps which are paired with the program’s preparations for the Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile this November. Coach Drew Ferguson also brought together 13 National Team players for the one-day Oakville, Ontario camp on 16 April 2023.

Ferguson’s squad for the camp featured former Players of the Year Samuel Charron and Damien Wojtiw along with Josh Da Silva, Dante Del Cull, Sam Denton, Chris Fawcett, Elias Gerosavas, Diego Gilber, Nicholas Heffernan, Oisin Merritt, Benjamin Mowat, Isaiah Smeath-Katzenberg, and Daniel White.

This year marks the third time that Canada will compete in the Parapan American Games, having previously won a bronze medal at Rio 2007 and finishing in fourth place at Toronto 2015.

Canada Soccer’s Para Soccer National Team features athletes who have cerebral palsy or have had a stroke or brain injury. Across a four-year cycle, Canada will compete in several global competitions including the International Federation of CP Football’s biennial World Championships and World Cup. Canada also strives to compete in the America’s Cup, the Parapanamerican Games, and the Paralympic Games.
