Canada arrives in Detroit

Canada’s Men’s National Team have arrived in Detroit, MI ahead of the team’s 7 June match against the USA (20.00 local kick-off) to begin their 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign.

The game is expected to attract a crowd of over 60,000 spectators at Ford Field and the contest will also be shown live on Rogers Sportsnet (20.00 EST/ 17.00 PST).



Canada completed a final training session Sunday morning in Alliston, ON before making their way to Detroit.



Head coach Stephen Hart expressed that his team enjoyed a productive training camp in Ontario



“The camp went well, the atmosphere in the camp has been great,” Hart ssaid.



“A lot of what we’ve been doing is trying to improve our working relationships. Some of the players are relatively new even though they have been in or two camps before.”



Canada travelled to Detroit with a squad of 20 players, but an additional three players have been named to the CONCACAF Gold Cup roster and will be available for selection if required.



David Edgar has replaced Dejan Jakovic in the 23-man roster but will not travel with the team unless required a later date. Jakovic has returned to his club D.C. United for further assessment following a hamstring injury sustained aganst Ecuador on June 1



Goalkeeper Haidar Al-Shaibani and midfielder/forward Issey Nakajima-Farran are also listed on the 23-man tournament roster, but are not currently with the squad.
