They’re all in.

Ahead of Canada’s opening match in the new 2018-19 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying competition, Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team is fully committed on the road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. It all starts 9 September with the first of four qualifying matches for this new competition, with both a spot in Concacaf Nations League Group A as well as the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup on the line.

“We have an exciting roster and, speaking with the players leading into this September match, everyone was fully committed,” said John Herdman, Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team Head Coach. “We were able to share a vision of Concacaf Nations League and the Concacaf competition landscape and I think it got the group excited. They know that every match is critical and it is clear that we have to perform in every match to progessively move through this new competition approach.”

This Fall, Canada will kick off 2018-19 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying with an away match in September and then a home match on 16 October at BMO Field in Toronto. Concacaf Nations League is a new competition in which every match counts. The first step will be to get through four qualyfing matches between now and March 2019 to earn a spot in Concacaf Nations League Group A as well as the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.

“There is no life in between anymore, that line was burned brightly into the culture in our first camp in March 2018. We know what we are here to do and as a group we will either choose to take this team to another level or we won’t, it’s that clear. This is a talented group who have a real shot at qualifying for Qatar 2022.”
