By the numbers: Dominick Zator leads all Canadians in 2022 CPL minutes played

York United FC captain Dominick Zator led all 2022 Canadian Premier League players with 2,506 minutes played across 28 regular season matches. Zator is just the second CPL player to feature in more than 2,500 minutes in the league’s short history, following in the footsteps of former York centre back Luca Gasparotto who featured in 2,520 minutes in 2019.
 
Of the more than 200 players from 40 different nations that featured in at least one CPL regular season match in 2022, more than 60 percent of them were Canadian.
 
Zator and Marco Bustos from Pacific FC were the only two players to feature in all 28 matches during the regular season. Sean Rea of Valour FC led the league with nine assists while goalkeepers Triston Henry from Forge FC and Marco Carducci from Cavalry FC were the league’s co-leaders with 10 clean sheets each. Osaze De Rosario of York United FC was the top Canadian goalscorer with 12 goals.
 
Atlético Ottawa finished at the top of the eight-team table with 49 points to win the regular season title. Atlético Ottawa, Forge FC Hamilton, Calgary’s Cavalry FC and Langford’s Pacific FC all advanced to the league’s playoffs. The league’s semi-finals are 15 and 23 October followed by the Championship Final on Saturday 29 October.
