April 2014: Canada continues to slowly climb

Canada up to 110th in the FIFA World Ranking; 11th in CONCACAF

Canada continues to move up the FIFA World Rankings, advancing two spots to 110th. The Canadian Men’s Team is now seeded 11th in CONCACAF.

The team’s next match is against 73rd ranked Bulgaria on 23 May. The friendly will take place at the Sonnenseestadion in Ritzing, Austria. Additional friendlies will also take place against Moldavia on 27 May,  then later in the year, against Jamaica on 9 September at BMO Field in Toronto and against Panama on 18 November in Panama City at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez.

The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking looks at each country’s international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result, the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year. Matches played more than a year ago are valued 50% of matches played in the last year; matches played more than two years ago are valued at 30% while matches played more than three years ago are valued at 20%.
