All 16 amateur teams have qualified for the men’s Challenge Trophy and women’s Jubilee Trophy competitions to this year’s National Championships in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. Eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams have qualified in the two divisions to be played from 8-13 October at historic King George V Park and the Fortis Canada Games Complex.
Tickets to the National Championships in St. John’s will go on sale this 22 September with either day passes available at $10 each or six-day tournament passes available for $40.
In the men’s division, reigning champions Gloucester Celtic FC are back alongside Group A opponents NKMB Saints FC (Winnipeg), Edmonton Drillers SC, and Conception Bay SC. In the opposite Group B, former champions Holy Cross FC and CS Rivière-des-Prairies are joined by Halifax County United SC and Port Moody SC.
In the women’s division, reigning champions CS Trident (Ouest de Québec) are back alongside Group A opponents Caledon United FC, St. John’s SC, and nine-time champions Edmonton Angels SSC. In the opposite Group B, two-time champions Holy Cross FC are joined by Victoria Gorge FC, FC Northwest Winnipeg, and Banat FC Kitchener.
The eight men’s teams qualified from a group of 176 amateur teams competing across seven provinces while the eight women’s teams qualified from a group of 57 amateur teams competing across six provinces.
Group matches for the men’s and women’s competitions will run Wednesday 8 October through Saturday 11 October with ranking and medal matches to follow on Sunday 12 October and Monday Finals Day 13 October. Both the men’s Canadian Final for the Challenge Trophy and the women’s Canadian Final for the Jubilee Trophy will be played at King George V Stadium, which this year celebrates its historic 100th anniversary.
The match schedules for the National Championships have been published at canadasoccer.com/competitions, with the kick-off times and venues to the Sunday ranking in St. John’s to be determined after the group phase (they will be played at either King George V Park or the Fortis Canada Games Complex).
Canada Soccer’s National Championships serve as the pinnacle event to the 2025 season, bringing together the best amateur clubs from across the country. This year marks the biggest year ever for Canada Soccer’s national amateur competitions with a record 128 qualified amateur teams set to take part in 14 divisions from the Futsal Canadian Championship in April to the Player-Development Program Championship in August and then the National Championships in October. Those 128 teams will qualify from a group of more than 1,100 teams taking part in competitive leagues and cup competitions from across the country.
