A full house of 19,619 watched Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team on Saturday afternoon in Montréal, the largest crowd ever for an international friendly in the province of Québec. It was a terrific atmosphere as captain Christine Sinclair played what she expects will be her fourth-last match for Canada, but the Brazilians spoiled the party with a late Débinha goal from a turnover.

It was Sinclair’s milestone 50th career match in Canada and she featured as a substitute in the second half. Jessie Fleming wore the captain’s armband, but withdrew after 22 minutes because of illness while Bianca St-Georges made her first-ever appearance in Canada. Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan earned Performance of the Match honours.

Since March 2000, Sinclair has made 328 career international “A” appearances, second most in the history of world football.
