Canada Soccer’s Men’s EXCEL Program channels our nation’s exceptional players into the best soccer environments. The Canada Soccer Pathway works in collaboration with our provincial and territory partners as well as the professional clubs and academies.

Men's Excel Program

Excel Program Roles

MEN'S EXCEL PROGRAM DIRECTOR & MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM HEAD COACH

  • Responsible for overall program design, execution and evaluation.
  • Oversees all technical elements of high performance player development.
  • Liaison with senior Canada Soccer management and Board of Directors.
  • Leads collaboration with key program partners.

MEN'S EXCEL 18-23 DIRECTOR/MEN'S U-23 & U-20 NATIONAL TEAM HEAD COACH

  • Leads the development and delivery of the National EXCEL Olympic and U-20 Program.
  • Responsible for recruitment, monitoring and tracking of the U18-U23 player pool and the EXCELeration Right Player, Right Time Strategy.
  • Responsible for the EXCEL Professional Integration Strategy.
  • Ongoing liaison with CPL and MLS II head coaches and technical staff.

MEN'S NATIONAL EXCEL DIRECTOR/MEN'S U-17 & U-15 NATIONAL TEAM HEAD COACH

  • Men's U-17 National Team Head Coach.
  • Leads integration with MLS and Professional Club Academy head coaches and general managers.
  • Leads National EXCEL Program curriculum development, delivery, player tracking and monitoring.
  • Responsible for the EXCEL Professional Integration Program.

MEN'S REGIONAL EXCEL DIRECTOR AND EXCEL PERFORMANCE MANAGER

  • Responsible for ongoing collaboration with Provincial and Territorial Member Associations and Integration with the National Youth Club License Program.
  • Leads the development and delivery of the EXCEL Performance Analytics system, EXCEL Tactical and Cultural Framework Member Association delivery, as well as monitoring, tracking, and talent identification strategies.

MEN'S EXCEL STAFF COACH

  • Serves as full-time professional resource to support all aspects of the Men's EXCEL Program.

MEN'S EXCEL GK COACH

  • Responsible for the Men's EXCEL Goalkeeper Development Framework.
  • Leads the integration with goalkeeper development staff at MLS and CPL clubs, as well as within academy and Member Association environment.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  • Men's EXCEL Physical Performance Manager.
  • Men's EXCEL Physical Performance Coach.
  • Men's EXCEL Medical Director.
  • Men's EXCEL Culture/Mental Manager.

OPERATIONS

  • EXCEL Operations Manager.
  • EXCEL Operations Assistant.

EXCEL Curriculum

Coaches at clubs in Canada Soccer's Club Licensing Program or put forward by Member Association Technical Directors have access to the Men's EXCEL Curriculum
