Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men's World Cup Team Head Coach Holger Osieck today released the roster for the international friendly against Libya in Tripoli on February 12, 2003. The game will be played at 6:30 p.m. local time at the National Stadium (11:30 a.m. ET).
Three players who made their World Cup Team debut against the United States on January 18 have been included in his squad in Atiba Hutchinson, Maycoll Canizalez and Rob Friend. Hutchinson recently signed with Osters in Sweden while Canizalez plays in the German Third Division with Werder Bremen reserves. Friend, who was recently drafted in the fourth round of the MLS Draft by Chicago, plays with Moss FK in Norway.
Ian Hume, a striker with English Second Division side Tranmere Rovers and with Canada's Under-20 Team has been called up for the first time as has midfielder Mike Klukowski, who plays with La Louviere in Belgium. Both were part of the 2001 Under-20 team which competed at the FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina.
Defender Paul Fenwick returns to the squad after missing the US game due to a bout of food poisoning. Jason deVos, who has scored an impressive six goals this season, rejoins the team after captaining Wigan to a first place spot in the English Second Division.
Striker Tomasz Radzinski is having a season to remember with Everton. Radzinski has scored a team-leading 10 goals, good for fifth place along the top scorers in the English Premier League. Everton sit in fifth place in the EPL.
Midfielder Jim Brennan has played in almost all of Nottingham Forest's games this season and returns to the World Cup Team for the first time since the 2002 Gold Cup.
