Canada scored twice at home in front of a sold-out Hamilton crowd, but ultimately fell 2:3 to the Olympic champions Germany at Tim Hortons Field. Christine Sinclair and Jessie Fleming were the Canadian goalscorers in front of the 22,826 fans at the Sunday afternoon match at Tim Hortons Field.
Germany's Svenja Huth opened the scoring in the first minute after taking advantage of a miss clearance by the Canadian defence. Sinclair then evened the scoring just before the hour mark on a header and then assisted on the Fleming go-ahead goal 10 minutes later. Sara Däbritz equalised a minute later and Turid Knaak scored the winner with just six minutes remaining.
