Match Report

Canada was defeated 0:1 by England in the final of the Cyprus Women’s Cup at GSZ Larnaca.

Unable to rally back from an England goal in the 67th minute (Lianne Sanderson), the team is looking to learn from the experience and build on the successes of their three wins in Cyprus.

Canada started out strong, dominating much of the first half, but was unable to score despite several good chances. The second half brought heavy rain and slippery conditions, augmenting the frustration for the team. Fighting until the last seconds of the match, Canada put in a solid 90 minutes and showed they are ready to take on the world’s top ten teams this summer.
