Canada had added-time heroics turned against them when host England scored a 92nd-minute winner in a 2013 Women's International Friendly match on Sunday 7 April. The Ellen White winner came three days after Canada's Kaylyn Kyle produced added-time heroics in a 1:1 draw with France.
From the top of the box, it was a Fara Williams sliced kick with the outside of her boot that was headed home by a diving White in the centre of the box. It marked the 13th goal of 23-year old White's international career.
Much of the Canada-England match was played evenly between the two sides, in truth "a game for defenders more than anything else." Centre back Kadeisha Buchanan was Canada's player of the match while right back Alex Scott was England's player of the match. The match at New York Stadium in Rotherdam, England was played in front of 4,875 fans.
"I don't think either team looked great today," said Canadian head coach John Herdman. "We both struggled to break the blocks down.
The chances were few and far between in the first half, with Canadian Tiffany Cameron perhaps winning the best look on goal. Cameron, however, could not get enough on the ball to put the hosts in danger.
In the second half, England created some chances in the last half hour after a series of substitutions, but Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod was often up to the task. McLeod's best save came in the 66th minute when her diving approach stopped an on-running Fara Williams.
England also a few shots go high, including a Jordan Nobbs strike in the 60th minute (from the top of the box), a Toni Duggan volley in the 77th minute (while on the run down the left side), and an Alex Scott shot in the 86th minute (after a pair of turn overs by the Canadian defence).
In the 87th minute, a three-player Canadian attack could have turned the game in the away team's favour, but the Christine Sinclair shot was blocked by the home side's Alex Scott. It had been a Diana Matheson run that played the ball into the middle, with her pass rolling past decoy Adriana Leon in favour of captain Sinclair.
Then in the 92nd minute, England's Jill Scott played with the ball down the left side before passing to Fara Williams for a shot on goal. The Williams shot was redirected by White for a late winning goal against the Canadians.
Unfortunately, it marked the second game in a row between the two sides that ended in England's favour.

In the second half, coach John Herdman replaced Wilkinson with Emily Zurrer (70'), Schmidt with Adriana Leon (72'), Sjoman with Lauren Sesselmann (76'), and Cameron with Jodi-Ann Robinson (80').
England's starting Xi featured Karen Bardsley in goal, Alex Scott at right back, Sophie Bradley and Casey Stoney at centre back, Stephanie Houghton at left back, and Anita Asante, Eniola Aluko, Jill Scott, Ellen White, Fara Williams and Rachel Yankey from the midfield up through to the attack.

Women's football milestones:
Recognised during the pre-match ceremony, Diana Matheson became the second Canadian footballer to make 150 international appearances. As it so happened, Matheson's milestone coincided by England record holder Rachel Yankey's 125th appearance.
Midfielder Sophie Schmidt, meanwhile, extended her national-record consecutive games streak to 55 international matches.
