Canada finished in 4th place at the 2001 Algarve Cup, the eighth edition of the women's international competition organised in Portugal (hosted by the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol). After finishing second in Group A with sixth points (including a 3:0 win over USA), Canada lost to China PR in the match for 3rd place on 17 March 2001.
