Canada scored a pair of second-half goals to come away with a 2:1 victory over Korea Republic in the opening match of the BaoAn Cup CFA Women's International Football Tournament Shenzhen 2015. Substitute Janine Beckie and centre back Kadeisha Buchanan were the goal scorers as Canada reversed an 0-1 scoreline from the first half in the 11 January match.
In truth, Canada had the better part of the play in the first half, but a defensive miscue led to the Yue Minji opener in the 34th minute.
Canada had its chances in the first half, including a couple of attacks in which Christine Sinclair was called offisde. On one opportunity, there was a nice combination of passes in the buildup, but the Canadian shot from distance sailed over the target.
In the second half, Canada wasted little time in scoring the equaliser. After a nice passing combination, Allysha Chapman beat the Korean offside trap and pushed into the box. With no flag on the play, Chapman pressed towards target and crossed a pass into the six where, on a couple of touches, Beckie knocked it in.
A few minutes later, Canada made it 2-1 off a Sophie Schmidt corner kick. Schmidt's kick to the back post was headed back by Christine Sinclair to the near post; Kadeisha Buchanan then beat the Korean defender in the air for the winning goal.
