The expanded Championship featured 13 teams from five leagues competing across five rounds and 24 matches. Calgary newcomers Cavalry FC and Ottawa Fury FC both reached the semi-finals, but they were eliminated by Montréal and Toronto who met in the Canadian final for the third time in six years. Montréal won on kicks from the penalty mark.
