The Canadian Women’s World Cup Team was defeated 3-0 by Japan on Friday in front of 27,262 spectators at Tokyo’s National Stadium.
Josee Belanger, Sari Raber, Leah Robinson, and Katie Thorlakson all earned their first cap with the senor team.
Milo Otani scored Japan’s first two goals in the ninth and 11th minutes. The third and final goal of the match was a Canadian own goal in the 78th minute.
Canadian goalkeeper Taryn Swiatek played all 90 minutes.
