Canada announces roster for USA friendly

Canada-USA, take III.



Canada’s women’s national team has arrived in Washington, DC in preparation of this Saturday’s friendly with the United States, the top-ranked women’s program in the world. Canada is already facing the United States for the third time this season.



The Canadian and American senior teams have met 41 times before, most recently at the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament in Juarez, México on 12 April 2008. Canada scored a late goal in extra time to record a 1:1 draw, its first point against the United States in five years. Canada has an all-time record of three wins, four draws and 34 losses against the number-one ranked American squad. Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners, ranks 9th in the world. Canada’s last win against the United States was 11 March 2001 at the 2001 Algarve Cup.



Coach Even Pellerud has taken 18 players for the trip and friendly match. Captain Christine Sinclair, who leads Canada with 86 goals and is third all-time with 113 matches, is Canada’s most experienced player.
