Schmidt is the 19th player to reach the milestone. The 22-year old has played both midfield and defence for Canada, most recently as one of her country’s two central backs for the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier.
Schmidt has represented Canada at one FIFA Women’s World Cup (China 2007), one Women’s Olympic Football Tournament (Beijing 2008), and three CONCACAF championships (2006, 2008 and 2010). She has also represented Canada at two FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cups (2004 and 2006) and two CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championships (2006 and 2008 gold).
Schmidt was eight years old when she started playing soccer in Abbotsford. She currently plays for Vancouver Whitecaps FC. She has won a W-League championship with the Vancouver Whitecaps and a Jubilee Trophy championship with Surrey United (both in 2006).
