The Canadian Soccer Association has rescheduled the second leg of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship final. The championship final featuring Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be played 2 July at BMO Field with a 12.30 ET kickoff time.
The first leg of the championship final was played on 18 May in Vancouver, a 1:1 draw at Empire Field. The second leg had commenced on 25 May, but was abandoned because of lightning and unplayable field conditions.
On Thursday 26 May, the decision was made to reschedule the second leg because of prevailing weather conditions. Those weather conditions prevented the match being replayed on the morning of 26 May.
The winner of the two-leg championship final will win the Voyageurs Cup and qualify for 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League. Canada’s representative will face Nicaraguan club Real EstelĂ FC in late July and early August in the preliminary round of CONCACAF Champions League.
