Director-Elect for Ontario
Canada Soccer has selected Leanne Nicolle to its Board of Directors as a Director-Elect for Ontario following a call for nominations. The Ontario Director position was left vacant by the recent appointment of Nick Bontis to the position of Canada Soccer Vice President. Ms. Nicolle will serve as Director for a term ending May 2020, with her selection ratified by the membership at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Members.
“We are proud to welcome Leanne Nicolle to our Board,” said Canada Soccer President Steven Reed. “Leanne’s experience as a marketing professional, community leader, and champion of empowering female athletes and women in sport will have a positive impact for Canada Soccer’s Board in the future.”
Nicolle is a storied marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience leading and developing brands and a has history of raising the profile of women in sport. She is the Founder of Ubuntu Marketing which she formed in 2016 following a successful tenure as the Executive Director of the Canadian Olympic Foundation and as the Director, Community Engagement at Plan International Canada, where she was instrumental in building the Because I am a Girl initiative.
She is a member of the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport Board of Directors, Executive in Residence, Inclusive Leadership in Sport at Ryerson University as well as a member of the Marketing and Communications Committee at Ontario Soccer where she provided leadership during their recent rebrand.
