The Canadian Soccer League has announced its 2011 award winners.
The Canadian Soccer League has announced its 2011 award winners. Tihomir Maletić of second-place Toronto Croatia has once again been named the league’s most valuable player. The 2011 award winners were announced at the annual awards night at the Mississauga Convention Centre on 13 November.
Other 2011 award winners were Scott Cliff of SC Toronto as Goalkeeper of the Year, Sven Arapovic of Toronto Croatia as Defender of the Year, Akil DeFreitas of Capital City FC as Rookie of the Year, Velemir Crljen of Toronto Croatia as Coach of the Year, and David Barrie as Referee of the Year. Stefan Vukovic was the league’s Top Goalscorer while Joe Pavicic won the Harry Paul Gauss Award.
SC Toronto was the First Division winners while Niagara United won the Fair Play and Respect Award. Toronto Croatia won the playoff championship on 29 October.
As for Second Division award winners, Jorgo Nika was the MVP, Ryan Pumier was the Goalkeeper of the Year, Oliver Spring was the Defender of the Year, Jeremy Caranci was the Rookie of the Year, and James McGillivray was the Coach of the Year. Nika was also the Top Goalscorer.
