The Manitoba Soccer Association recognized its 2008 winners at the annual awards banquet on Saturday night. Midfielder Jordan Goetting and forward Karli Colpitts were named the two senior athletes of the year.
“Each individual (recognized) made an exceptional contribution to our sport,” said Manitoba Soccer Association president Sean Drain. “We are grateful to them all for their dedication.”

Goetting, a one-time Challenge Trophy winner, won the Frank Capasso Award of Merit as the outstanding senior male player. Colpitts, a one-time member of Canada’s national training centres, won the Christine O’Connor Award of Merit as the outstanding senior female player.
Other award winners were Pablo Urbina for the Harry Harwood Award (youth male), Stephanie Scharf for the Lorrie Thompson Award (youth female), Billy Senior for the Mario Perrino Award (referee), John Dela Cruz for the Frank Major Award (official), Larry Ladobruk for the Dave Zacharias Award (coach), Doug Leeies for the Vic Batzel Award (youth volunteer), Brent Boulter for the Ralph Cantafio Award (senior volunteer), and Stew Duncan for the Fred Stambrook Award (volunteer). Amy Harrison, meanwhile, won the President’s Award.
