2010 Newfoundland Labrador soccer awards

The Newfoundland Labrador Soccer Association has announced its 2010 award winners. The award winners were celebrated at the annual general meeting at the Battery Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The two big award winners were 2010 Senior Players of the Year Tyler Putt and Mallorie Harris.



Other award winners were Junior Players of the Year Jordi Slaney and Rebecca Green, Coach of the Year Dragan Mirkovic, Executive of the Years Bob Antle and Dave Legrow, Team of the Year St. John’s U-14 Girls, and Ross Arlett Memorial Award winner Damien Masterson (top contributor to officiating).



“The high calibre of all the winners is a clear indication of the high level that provincial soccer has achieved,” said Newfoundland Labrador Soccer Association President Doug Redmond. “Everyone of them shows the overall success that soccer enjoyed during 2010 and certainly demonstrate that all aspects of soccer improved and increased. We are very proud of these winners.”

Tyler Putt put a tremendous senior male soccer season together in 2010, providing the Mount Pearl club with solid goalkeeping that was a major factor in the overall success that the team achieved. His exceptionaly fine play helped keep his team in the running for first place overall until the final game of the season. His play carried over to the provincial playoffs as he led Mount Pearl to the championship game.



Malorie Harris, an extremely talented striker with Holy Cross/Kirby Group, enjoyed exceptional success during the 2010 season. She was a valuable player who contributed greatly to the success that her club achieved with an impressive list of outstanding performances. She was the team’s leading scorer and her overall play was a major reason that the team earned a rewarding sixth place finish at the BMO National Championships Jubilee Trophy competition in Prince Edward Island.
