Coach Selaidopoulos attends Futsal Canadian Championship

Canada Soccer’s Futsal National Team Head Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos will be on hand for the first few days of this year’s Futsal Canadian Championship keeping an eye out for potential young talent that may have a future on the international stage. Coach Selaidopoulos has flown into Calgary to watch the first two days of the competition and present the National Teams philosophy to club coaches and players.

On the eve of the competition, Selaidopoulos presented to coaches and team staff from the qualified teams. His presentation highlighted the pathway and expectations for players hoping to play the game at the highest level with Canada Soccer’s National Teams.

On Friday night, Selaidopoulos will speak with players at the competition venue, the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex in Tsuut’ina Nation. Selaidopoulos and his coaching staff are preparing for the current 2026-29 futsal cycle that will include the men’s and women’s FIFA Futsal World Cups in 2028 and 2029, respectively.

All 35 matches for the 2026 Futsal Canadian Championship will be played from 9-12 April at Chief Jim Starlight Centre inside the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex, with free admission to all matches provided by the Calgary United Soccer Association, the hosts for this year’s competition in partnership with Tourism Calgary.

This year’s competition will feature a record 10 provinces and territories represented across the men’s and women’s divisions. For the first time ever, the Futsal Canadian Championship will introduce Quarterfinals and Semifinals in both divisions. The enhanced format ensures a full four-day competition with meaningful matches for all participating teams. Matches will be broadcast live on FIFA+ including both Canadian Finals on Sunday 12 April.
