Canada Soccer has confirmed the groups for all four divisions of the Youth National Championships following a Tuesday 7 April draw at Canada Soccer Place in Ottawa. The draw confirmed the last two spots available for this year’s Youth National Championships as well as the completed composition of groups for all four divisions across the National Championships U-17 Cup in St. John’s as well as the U-15 Cup in Surrey.
Of the 48 spots available (12 teams per division), 46 of them had been confirmed before 27 March including three spots from this year’s hosts (St. John’s SC in the Boys’ U-17 Cup and Girls’ U-17 Cup; Surrey FC in the Boys’ U-15 Cup). Additionally, NWT Soccer were approved for their return in two divisions (Boys’ U-17 Cup and Boys’ U-15 Cup) while BC Soccer were approved for an additional spot (Girls’ U-15 Cup). Through the Tuesday draw, both Alberta Soccer (Girls’ U-17 Cup) and Nova Scotia (Girls’ U-15 Cup) were awarded additional spots to this year’s Youth National Championships.
With all 48 spots confirmed, the Tuesday draw then completed the group composition by assigning seeds 9-12 in each division (the third team for each set of groups A-D). The first 32 spots (eight per division) were pre-seeded based on the final standings from the same respective divisions in 2025. As a constraint to the draw, no group to the National Championships will feature two teams from the same province.
Canada Soccer’s Youth Competitions Network supports the pathway of young Canadian players from the amateur game to the professional and international levels. Both the PDP Championship in August as well as the National Championships in October provide a terrific growth opportunity for Canada’s bright young players from across the country.
As Canada’s most accessible sport, soccer welcomes more than 750,000 registered players across the nation. This past year alone, 580 youth teams took part in qualifying for the National Championships in the U-17 and U-15 age groups for both boys and girls. From that group, 12 youth teams qualified in each of the four divisions, with each host venue hosting 24 qualified teams across the week-long event heading into the Canadian Finals on Thanksgiving Monday.
