Last month, Canada Soccer issued an RFI inviting municipal governments, provincial and territorial soccer associations, postsecondary institutions, and other prospective partners to express their early interest in hosting and collaborating on the development of a future National Training Centre dedicated to high-performance soccer. Input received through this process will help shape the potential location, partnerships, and delivery model for the facility.
Since issuing the RFI Canada Soccer has received seven indications of interest from parties across Canada, each expressing enthusiasm for a project that will play a central role in advancing high performance soccer in Canada while also delivering meaningful long-term community, social, and economic benefits.
Canada Soccer has partnered with Populous, a global design firm with extensive expertise in delivering world-class, modern training facilities. With a strong portfolio of Canadian projects and a local presence across three offices nationwide, Populous will lead the development of the program and concept plan for the Canadian National Training Centre. The firm’s experience spans hundreds of high-performance training centres for professional clubs, national teams and major sports organizations around the world, bringing invaluable expertise in athlete training and development, sports medicine, community engagement and sustainable design.
Envisioned as a legacy of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the National Training Centre will leave a lasting, future-focused impact by strengthening Canada’s soccer infrastructure while expanding community access and elevating the country’s high-performance pathway.
Beyond its high-performance mandate, the National Training Centre is envisioned as a community anchored destination. The project will prioritize:
For potential host communities, the NTC represents a unique opportunity to deliver a permanent community asset that supports sport and recreation and drives economic development, while contributing to Canada’s preparation for major international competitions and globally significant events.
Canada Soccer encourages all interested and prospective partners who have not yet responded to the RFI to submit their expressions of interest by February 12, 2026.
