Match officials appointed for the 2025 PDP Championship

Canada Soccer has appointed 16 referees to the 2025 PDP Championship including nine referees from the Elite Development Program. Referees will be assigned across 64 competitive matches in the PDP U-17 Cup and PDP U-15 Cup from 27 to 31 August in Vaughan, Ontario.

As part of Canada Soccer’s Youth Competitions Network, the annual PDP Championship brings together the top youth teams from Canada’s four standards-based leagues: the BC Soccer Premier League, the Alberta Player-Development League, the Ontario Player-Development League, and the Québec Youth Soccer Premier League (PLSJQ).

Canada Soccer’s PDP Championship offers multiple opportunities for enhanced referee development that will occur in and around the competition. Canada Soccer will provide an environment to support on-field performance, education, training habits, fitness preparation and social interactions.

Along with the 16 referees appointed by Canada Soccer, an additional 21 referees have been appointed by this year’s host Ontario Soccer. Canada Soccer has also appointed seven assessors, as well as Supervisor of Officials Tony Camacho. Throughout 64 matches, some of Canada Soccer’s top assessors will evaluate each match and offer advice and support to the match officials.

Daily educational sessions led by Canada Soccer instructors will be held to expose the match officials to the latest training and education. These sessions will focus on best practices and points of emphasis in the modern game to ensure that match officials are aligned with Canada Soccer expectations.

Canada Soccer’s Player-Development Program features a network of standards-based programs that represent high-level amateur youth soccer in Canada. Participating organisations, both clubs and academies, all meet the requirements for standards-based programming including recognition as an active National Youth Club Licensee.
